The European Union (EU) has implemented strict regulations to govern the use of animal by-products (ABPs) in animal feed products. These regulations aim to ensure the safety of animal feed and protect public health.
Due to EU regulations prohibiting the feeding of farm animals with catering/household waste or processed protein from the same species, it is challenging to use a single chondroitin source for various feed preparations, being most of chondroitin forms available on the market derived from livestock animals, such as chickens, pigs, and bovines.
